What others who have worked with John say
Every stage of the journey brings inevitable new challenges, but none that can't overcome with the right strategies, resources, support and mindset.
Some of John's personal struggles..
I had burnt out completely, the doctors called it “chronic fatigue” which was a type of syndrome that left you feeling weak and tired most of the day and they told me there was no cure.
I couldn’t believe it, I had put over 13 years of my life into the sport of tennis and it was ending right before my eyes when I finally felt so close to a long awaited breakthrough.
The devastation I felt was like a wave engulfing me and as my health and fitness deteriorated with each passing day a depression overtook me that felt literally like there was a dark cloud over my head that had me pinned down.
Spending months at a time mostly in bed, I struggled with the question of “who am I” now that I could no-longer play my beloved sport of tennis each day.
What was I going to do with my life? And would I ever recover from the struggle of chronic fatigue?
I felt like a failure and that everything was lost. It was my first ground zero and it was hard.
Finally drawing on the wisdom my mother and a mentor called Mr Vincent taught me, I found a way to get back up from the loss of everything that mattered most to me.
As I began to recover, I started listening to the whisper within that said there must be a way to also recover from this so called incurable chronic fatigue.
Shortly after I met a holistic doctor who over the next year helped me recover completely.
Through these struggles and others like them I learnt the value of how important the right mentor and guidance can be in so many areas of our lives and I am grateful to each of these people to supported me in finding a way through.
I learnt the power of our mindset and how our beliefs and self-talk play are major roll in whether we remain stuck in our current limitations or experience a real breakthrough towards our goals and dreams.
